Burst water mains in Cardiff likely to affect water supply

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water have advised there has been a burst water mains in the Ely / Caerau areas of Cardiff which is likely to affect the water supply to many properties in the area until later this afternoon (May 11th).

We have been advised that a number of houses have been impacted and some schools will be closed. They included; Plasmawr, Mary Immaculate, Windsor Clive, Fairwater Primary School, Pentrebane, St Francis and Danescourt.

Any food businesses without water will be required to cease the handling of open foods whilst there is no supply of water. This is due toWater pipe Cardiff May 23 the inability to effectively maintain food safety controls and comply with hygiene laws.

Those food businesses selling packaged food may continue to trade as long as hand sanitiser is used to replace the use of water and soap. Updates on the situation can be viewed here. The affected areas are indicated in the image on the right.
