Highfield Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering (RQF)

By law, food business operators must ensure that food handlers receive the appropriate supervision and training in food hygiene.

This qualification is suitable for those working in a catering environment who are responsible for handling food. It is also the Chef preparing foodmost popular food safety qualification accepted by enforcement officers and auditors.

How long will it take me to achieve this qualification?

This qualification involves a one-day classroom-based or online training course.

What qualifications do I need to take this qualification? 

There are no subject specific pre-requisites and the qualification is suitable for learners aged 14+. It is recommended that learners undertaking the qualification have a minimum of Level 1 in English and maths or equivalent. If you are unsure if this course is suitable for you, please contact us to discuss the course requirements before booking your place.

How is the qualification assessed?

This qualification is assessed by an end-of-course 20 question multiple choice exam paper. The pass mark for the paper is 13 out of 20 questions correct (66%).

What next?

Individuals achieving this qualification may wish to progress on to other food safety and allergens related qualifications, such as Highfield Level 2 Award in Food Allergen Awareness in Catering (RQF), Highfield Level 3 Award in Food Safety in Catering (RQF). Where can this course be taken?

We deliver this course in Bridgend, Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, as well as delivering the course online. To take the assessment for the Qualification online, you will need a laptop / computer / tablet or similar with a webcam and microphone, as well as a smart phone. Cost?

The cost of this training course is £80.

If you wish to undertake this qualification online, there is an additional cost of £30 + VAT (£36) for the e-assessment. The total cost for completing this qualification online is therefore £116.

This qualification involves a two day classroom-based training course with a pre-course handbook to complete.

What qualifications do I need to take this qualification? 

There are no subject specific pre-requisites and the qualification is suitable for learners aged 14+. It is recommended that learners undertaking the qualification have a minimum of Level 1 in English and maths or equivalent. How is the qualification assessed?

This qualification is assessed by an end-of-course 45 question multiple choice exam paper. The pass mark for the paper is 30 out of 45 questions correct (66%). A mark of 36 or higher will result in a distinction.
